Progress: We have provided health care for more than 100 years, and are now one of the most dynamic medical centers in the world. While other local hospitals are either closing or reducing in size, we are growing to meet the increasing demand for our high quality care. Our state-of-the-art Saperstein Critical Care Tower features 150 Intensive Care beds that include a unique 30-bed Universal Monitored Unit for medical/surgical patients.
Action: Evidence-based practice, shared governance and "Transforming Care at the Bedside (TCAB)" are initiatives that increase nursing involvement, and foster shared decision-making and clinical accountability.
Education: We are a major teaching hospital affiliated with the UCLA School of Medicine. The Brawerman Nursing Institute at Cedars-Sinai partners with both California State University, Los Angeles and UCLA’s School of Nursing to develop bachelor’s and master’s degree-prepared nurses, and collaborates with CSULA to help nurses with associate’s degrees earn their bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees more quickly.
Scope: We provide the full range of inpatient and outpatient services for adults, children and the acute patient population that comes with out Level I Trauma Center, Paramedic Base Station and Tertiary Facility status, and this year the Joint Commission certified the Cedars-Sinai Stroke Program at the Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute as a Primary Stroke Center.
